Almond Breeze Almond Milk

What's everyone going nuts about?

Almond milk is one of an ever-growing line of non-dairy alternatives to traditional cow’s milk.
There are a few varieties and brands of almond milk making their way into South Africa.
I have sampled the Almond Breeze brand.
Almond Breeze Almond Milk is available in three variants at the moment in South Africa; Original, Unsweetened and the Barista Blend.
It is available at: Pick n Pay, Checkers, Spar, Food Lover's Market, Dis-Chem and Wellness Warehouse.

I'm not one to add sugar to things I consume so, Almond Breeze Original was a little too sweet for my liking. I would imagine that this would probably be your best bet if you're wanting to make the switch from dairy milk to almond milk. The Original Almond Breeze Milk is sweet and tasty.
Having said that, I really enjoyed the Unsweetened Almond Breeze!
I used it in cooking, baking, cereals and smoothies. It has a neutral clean taste, with a slight but not overpowering sweetness. You can clearly get a taste of that almond goodness within.

The only thing that I added my almond milk into that I didn't enjoy was my coffee.  I  couldn't get the milk to froth well. Cue the introduction of The Barista Blend from Almond Breeze. A variant of Almond Milk specifically made for coffee making! How awesome! The Barista Blend was made to compliment the finest coffees in the world and provide the correct consistency to froth for visual presentation.

Almond Breeze is vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free, peanut-free and are soy-free.

Overall, I would highly recommend trying the products and finding which would suit your needs most. I will definitely continue using the unsweetened Almond Breeze Almond Milk and am really keen to try out the Barista Blend!

It's a great healthy alternative to dairy milk and leaves you feeling healthier... and I think, we all want to feel healthier.

Rémy Martin - One Life/Live Them

"You only get one life, live them."
"Why be one thing when you can be many things."

On the 30th of March, Rémy Martin hosted an event at the Oyster Box in Durban.

Rémy Martin's One Life.Live Them campaign was launched in October last year. I was fortunate to photograph their Legends event in December last year held at Moyo on the Pier.
We were then treated to a night with living music legend, Vusi Mahlasela.

Naturally I then inquired about the campaign and was very keen to be involved in their upcoming events.

The event held at the Oyster Box was geared towards the entrepreneurs and leaders. Two of the campaign ambassadors were brought in to chat about their life and experiences thus far.
The two speakers were informative and embodied the brand and the current campaign.
Mayihlome Tshwete and Ludwick Marishane both ground-breakers in the respective paths who live their different lives.

Ludwick Marishane

Mayihlome Tshwete

This international campaign recognizes and celebrates individuals multi-talents, by understanding that people are not defined by one talent or skill, but are multi-faceted, with many passions.
If that isn't a mantra to follow, I don't know what is!

The event went on way into the evening; with a fine-dining three course meal being paired with Rémy Martin Cognac Fine Champagne.

Best part about this campaign; YOU could be invited to the next exclusive event.
All you have to do is sign up at: www.remymartin.co.za
You get to create your own online profile and be part of the Rémy Martin world.

Review: Kevin.Murphy's Stimulate-Me.Wash & Rinse range

Kevin.Murphy; the brand uses the tagline; "Skincare for Your hair"

Born from the same philosophy as skincare, KEVIN.MURPHY products are WEIGHTLESSLY designed to deliver PERFORMANCESTRENGTH and LONGEVITY.

I received the Stimulate-Me Wash & Rinse at the end of last year and I've been testing this shampoo and conditioner combo for the last two months to enable me to properly review it.
This is the first men's range to join the Kevin.Murphy line.

STIMULATE-ME.WASH IS A STIMULATING AND REFRESHING SHAMPOO FOR YOUR HAIR AND SCALP. CAMPHOR CRYSTALS STIMULATES CIRCULATION TO THE SCALP AND HELPS RESTORE A NATURAL SHINE AND STRENGTH TO THE HAIR. THE COMBINATION OF BERGAMOT MINT & BLACK PEPPER WORK AS STIMULATING INGREDIENTS FOR ADDED CIRCULATION AND CELLULAR STRENGTH.

STIMULATE-ME.RINSE SOOTHES AND COOLS THE HAIR AND SCALP. IT CONTAINS WHEAT AMINO ACIDS THAT PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH AND CELLULAR REGENERATION, AND SHEA BUTTER, WHICH ABSORBS QUICKLY AND COMPLETELY INTO THE HAIR AND SCALP TO RE-HYDRATE WITHOUT CLOGGING THE PORES.

My CONCLUSION:
After using both products for the last two months; my hair growth has increased and the hair is noticeably stronger! I already have thick hair - which is one of the benefits of this range - so I suppose this would help me in retaining this. The scent of the products is masculine but fresh; soothing and cooling. When I get out the shower after using the products, I feel alive and ready to take on the day ahead. Not a bad way to start your morning - thanks Kevin.Murphy!

STIMULATE-ME WASH & RINSE USES A COMBINATION OF INGREDIENTS TO AWAKEN AND CLARIFY THE HAIR AND SCALP, PREPARING IT TO RECEIVE THE HAIR THICKENING AND THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS OF THICK.AGAIN.
More about Thick.Again in an upcoming review.

The Kevin.Murphy range is unique, cutting edge and modern.
In their ingredients (all KEVIN.MURPHY hair products are sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free.) as well as in their design;
the packaging is eye-catching, recyclable and biodegradable. I display my products proudly in my bathroom.

Stocked at all major salons in South Africa. I get my Kevin.Murphy fix from Gerald Wells Salon in Durban. Gerald Wells Splush stores, located throughout South Africa also stock the full range.

Review: Organic Energy with Scheckter's

I can't recall when I first tried Schekter's. I know it was from my local Woolworths store and I was drawn to the word "organic" on the can.

After my first sample can, I then started buying the 4 packs! I drink a can before I go for a run in the morning or while I'm spending a late night editing images.

Scheckter's are dedicated to creating great tasting drinks that use the best organic and natural ingredients available to help people derive the maximum benefit from every can.

It really is an awesome tasting drink. It gives you an awesome boost and doesn't leave you crashing once it settles. Perfect all times of the day:

Morning: A kick start to your morning.
Afternoon: A refreshing drink to get you through the dreaded afternoon slump.
Workout: A great companion to provide an extra boost of energy before or after exercise.
Evening: A tasty mixer for an evening drink.

Scheckter's was previously only available in 2 variants; Original and Lite. Both pomegranate and lemon flavoured. Last year September Scheckter's added two new drinks to their brand; Scheckter’s OrganicEnergy Mint Green Tea and Ginger Green Tea.

These two new flavours are exclusively stocked at woolworths for now.

You can also find Scheckter’s Original and Lite varieties at Pick n Pay, Dischem, Clicks, Makro, Spar, Kauai, Food Lovers Market, Fruit and Veg City and Wellness Warehouse.

Also check out their website: www.schecktersorganic.com for more info!

Quote by Charles Bukowski

“If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start.
This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind.
It could mean not eating for three or four days.
It could mean freezing on a park bench.
It could mean jail.
It could mean derision.
It could mean mockery--isolation. Isolation is the gift.
All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it.
And, you'll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds.
And it will be better than anything else you can imagine.
If you're going to try, go all the way.
There is no other feeling like that.
You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire.
You will ride life straight to perfect laughter.
It's the only good fight there is.”
